Microsoft Paint Is Missing From Windows 10 Fall Creators Update

When Microsoft introduced the Paint 3D app with Windows 10 Creators Update, it was certain that Microsoft would discontinue the classic Windows Paint program sooner or later. Microsoft has now confirmed that Windows Paint program will be removed from the upcoming Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.
Windows Paint or MS Paint is one of the many features removed from the Fall Creators Update for Windows 10, which is currently available for insiders. Microsoft recommends Windows 10 users to use the new Paint 3D as a replacement for the Paint program.
In short, Windows Paint program will not be present in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. If you are on Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (currently available for insiders), you will have to use the Paint 3D or third-party image editing software like Paint.net, GIMP, and Picasa (now retired).
Is there a way to get back the classic Paint program?
Yes, there are two ways to get the classic Windows Paint in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. The first way is to go back to Creators Update from the Fall Creators Update, but this method is not practical.
The second method is to install the classic Paint program in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. You can refer to our how to get the classic Paint program in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update article for detailed instructions.
What about third-party free alternatives to Paint?
That said, there are plenty of free and commercial image editing tools around. Most of the third-party image editing applications are miles ahead of the classic Paint program. If you cannot afford a commercial software, use the very popular Paint.net and GIMP programs.
