If you are concerned about what kind of content your young child is looking at online then there are some precautions you can take.
Kiddle.co, which was launched last year, is a child-friendly search engine which brings up 'safe' sites for your little ones to look at.
It also shows sites written in a simple language, so if you have very young children, they can still use it.
Kiddle has been specifically designed for children, and you can make it your homepage (just as you would Google) to encourage kids to use it more.
Unsuitable content and explicit terms are filtered out of searches, reports the Mirror Online.
What is Kiddle?
Kiddle works by filtering the results and taking out explicit or inappropriate content.
It brings up safe sites and pages which are handpicked by editors to ensure they are suitable for a younger audience.
Kiddle says: "In case some bad words are present in a search query, our guard robot will block the search."
Children can look up websites, news, images, videos as well as look at the encyclopedia.
Certain searches are blocked, including some celebrities including Pamela Anderson and Kim Kardashian.
However, content about Kim and her family can be found if users search the term Kardashian, taking out the reality star's first name.
How does it work?
If you are concerned about which sites your child is visiting you can block websites from showing up in the search result.
Although it has been designed to filter out unsuitable sites there might be one or two additional ones you don't like - should this be the case you can block manually.
At the bottom of the search tab, you will find a parental and educators section, this gives advice on how to keep children safe online.
Is it associated with Google?
In short, no.
Although it does use a Google Custom Search bar which helps to filter out inappropriate material.
Kiddle's logo is made up of the same blue, green, red and yellow colors as Google but - instead of a traditional white background - an outer space theme has been adopted, complete with a friendly robot.
It is thought that Kiddle was set up by a Russian founder of a site called Freaking News.
