Automatically Sign-in After Restarting Windows 10

By now, you probably know that there is a provision in Windows 10 to setup automatic sign-in so that you can sign-in to your Windows 10 account without entering the account password.
The default automatic sign-in is a useful feature if no one else has access to your PC. But if you share your PC with others, enabling automatic sign-in doesn’t make sense. In fact, enabling automatic sign-in on a shared PC nullifies the idea of adding a password to your account.
Automatic sign in after Windows 10 restart
There are many users who use a strong password to protect their data on their Windows 10 PC but don’t want to enter the password after restarting Windows 10 PC.
For instance, if you want to restart your PC after installing an application, would not it be cool if Windows 10 allows you automatically sign-in to your account without requiring you to enter the password? The feature cannot be misused as users only who have access to your user can restart your PC from the Start or desktop.
Luckily, there is a provision in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update to configure Windows 10 to not to ask for password after restarting Windows 10 or after installing updates. This simply means that Windows 10 will not ask for your password when you restart your PC.

Here is how to enable auto sign-in after restarting Windows 10 PC.
Step 1: Open the Settings app.
Step 2: Navigate to Accounts > Sign-in options. On this page, you will see various options related to sign-in.
Step 3: Finally, in the Privacy section, turn on Use my sign in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update or restart.

NOTE: The option Use my sign in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update option has been moved from Update & security > Windows Update > Advanced options to Accounts > Sign-in options.
If you cannot see Use my sign in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update or restart option under Accounts > Sign-in options, please update your Windows 10 install to Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.
That’s it! You may now restart your Windows 10 PC to see the new feature in action. As always, you will need to enter a password or use other sign-in methods after resuming your PC from sleep and hibernation.
